Give thanks, it could have been worse.

Today was my turn to take our daughter to school. The drive to our destination was uneventful, however on my way back, I heard that dreaded “hissing” sound, yes one of the front tires went flat. Before I even pulled the car to the side of the road, I started to complain (sounds familiar).

So here I am, changing the tire in the hot sun, complaining and complaining, then it occurred to me; it could have been worse. The tire could have blown out with my daughter in the car; we could have had an accident…….it could have been worse.

Isn’t it amazing how quickly we complain, become upset or give up, as soon as a problem or challenge comes our way? Isn’t amazing how quickly we forget that God has always been good to us, even when we turn our backs on Him? His word says,  In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you (1st Thess. 5 v18).

We are not expected to give thanks for everything, but in everything, whatever the circumstance, give thanks, because the truth is, it could be worse.

Have you given thanks today? It cost nothing but your time;  simply pause, stop what you’re doing, reflect on your life and then give thanks.

Give Thanks, it could be worse.

    I am reading your post for the second time !! and it is amazing how relevant and current God’s word is. I am about to leave UWI to go to a stress filled work environment, already i feel my shoulder muscles becoming tense, but then your post reminds me to give thanks in all situations.It could be worse,I could have been unemployed or worse in a job where I am not serving people in a meaningful way. Thanks for the reminder preacerboy !!
